What BowPro+ is, who it is for, and how its calculations differ from conventional tape tools.

BowPro+ is a precision equipment-setup, ballistic-calculation and sight-tape creation application for compound archery. It combines detailed bow, arrow and sight data with a physics-based ballistic engine to create shooting references for a specific equipment setup and environment.

BowPro+ is designed for compound archers who want more control and accuracy than a generic sight-tape calculator can provide. It is suitable for target archery, 3D archery, bowhunting preparation, equipment testing and technical setup work.

BowPro+ can create customized sight tapes, cut charts, near-field aiming references and other distance-based shooting references. It can also save complete equipment setups and export selected results for printing or sharing.

A conventional calculator often relies mainly on two sight marks or a simplified speed-based curve. BowPro+ models the arrow’s flight using arrow mass, dimensions, aerodynamic properties, launch speed, sight geometry and environmental conditions.
This becomes especially useful at long distances and on steep uphill or downhill shots, where small modeling errors become increasingly visible.

No. BowPro+ can work with a measured launch speed, an estimated launch speed or suitable downrange measurements.
A directly measured speed normally provides the best starting point, but the result can be refined through shooting validation.

Yes. BowPro+ can estimate launch speed from bow and arrow information, including draw weight, draw length, arrow mass and the characteristics of the bow’s power stroke and cam system.
Because bows with similar advertised speed ratings may transfer energy differently, the estimate is not based solely on an IBO rating.

Phrono is BowPro+’s phone-audio chronograph. It analyzes the timing of the bow shot and arrow impact to estimate arrow speed over a known shooting distance.
For the best results, the phone position, direction, shooting distance and surrounding acoustic conditions must be entered or captured correctly.

Not in every situation. A radar or optical chronograph remains an excellent direct measurement tool.
Phrono is useful when a conventional chronograph is unavailable, when performing field measurements or when comparing results using only a phone and a measured shooting distance. Its accuracy depends on clean audio, correct geometry and a clearly detectable impact.
Accuracy, setup and printing

With accurately measured arrow speed, correct arrow and sight geometry, and two well-spaced validation marks, a BowPro+ tape should typically remain within approximately:
- ±0.25–0.5 m of the correct sight setting through 20–60 m
- about ±0.5–0.75 m around 80 m
- about ±1 m at 100 m
In practical impact terms, this generally corresponds to roughly ±2–3 cm vertically at 50 m and ±5–8 cm at 100 m, assuming consistent shooting form and correctly scaled printing.
A purely model-generated tape without shooting validation may still be very close, but small errors in launch speed, peep height, sight geometry or aerodynamic data can grow to approximately 1–2 m of equivalent range error at longer distances. After validation, shooter consistency and printing accuracy will usually contribute more error than the BowPro+ ballistic calculation itself.
These figures are realistic engineering expectations rather than guaranteed group sizes. The final tape should always be verified by shooting.

Real equipment rarely behaves exactly like an ideal model. Small differences in launch speed, drag, peep position, sight geometry, anchor position and printed tape scaling can accumulate.
Validation allows BowPro+ to align the calculated result with actual impacts at known distances.

The most important values include:
- arrow mass and dimensions;
- launch speed;
- sight and peep geometry;
- reference shooting distances;
- environmental conditions;
- accurate bow, arrow and sight configuration data.
The more accurately the physical setup is described, the less correction should be required later.

Yes. BowPro+ supports commonly used archery units, including metres, yards, millimetres, inches, grains, pounds, feet per second and relevant environmental units.
The selected display units do not change the underlying calculation precision.

BowPro+ supports detailed sight geometry and can account for sight movement ratios where required. Tape appearance, direction, spacing, labels and mark intervals can be customized for different sight types and personal preferences.
The physical tape must still be printed and installed at the correct scale.

Export the tape and print it at its actual size or 100% scale. Disable options such as “Fit to page” or automatic scaling.
After printing, verify at least one known physical measurement before installing the tape. Even a small printer-scaling error can become significant over the full tape length.
Ballistics and angle compensation
How BowPro+ handles uphill and downhill shots, and why its cuts may differ from a rangefinder.

Yes. BowPro+ can create angle-compensated shooting references and cut charts using its ballistic model.
It does not simply multiply the distance by the cosine of the angle. The calculation can account for the actual trajectory, retained velocity, sight geometry and the difference between the line of sight and the arrow’s flight path.

Many rangefinders provide a simplified equivalent horizontal distance. That may work reasonably well for moderate angles and distances, but it does not model the specific arrow and bow setup.
BowPro+ calculates the result for the selected equipment configuration, which becomes increasingly important at longer distances and more extreme angles.
Equipment, sharing and privacy

Yes. BowPro+ includes equipment catalogs and saved configurations for bows, arrows, sights and complete shooting setups.
This makes it possible to maintain separate configurations for different bows, arrow builds, draw weights, sights or intended uses.

BowPro+ supports exporting and sharing setup information. A shared package can contain selected equipment information or a more complete bow, arrow, sight and tape configuration.
Always review the contents before sharing, particularly when a setup contains personal notes or test data.

The essential equipment, ballistic and tape-creation functions operate locally on the device and do not depend on a BowPro+ server.
An internet connection may still be required for App Store subscription verification, purchases, restoration and other Apple-provided services.

BowPro+ does not operate its own account or cloud service for the core application data. Equipment setups and calculations remain on the device unless the user explicitly exports or shares them.
Apple may process purchase and subscription information as part of the App Store and StoreKit services.

BowPro+ data is stored locally. Before replacing or resetting a device, important setups should be exported or included in an appropriate device backup.
Exported setup packages provide an additional way to preserve or transfer important configurations.
